The object of crime is a required element of its corpus delicti, which allows to determine the social danger of crime and to distinguish it from other types of offences. In this article, the author makes an attempt to analyze the object of such crime as occupying the top position in the criminal hierarchy completely, the corpus delicti of which is considered to be a relatively new phenomenon for the Russian criminal law and discussable even five years after its application. In order to determine the range of social relations constituting the object of crime provided for by article 2101 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, different scientific approaches recorded by judicial practice have been examined. Based on the analysis of the horizontal classification of the objects of crime, developed by the doctrine of criminal law, the problem to define the basic, additional and optional direct objects of occu-pying the top position in the criminal hierarchy is identified. As a result of the research, we state, that in this case the definition of objects depends on the approach to interpret the disposition of the rule of law provided for by article 2101 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
