This article presents a critical analysis of global trends to apply the artificial intelligence in law enforcement, focusing on existing challenges and contemporary risks of digitalization in the security sector. The global scientific community emphasizes the high potential of AI for transforming criminal analysis, automating routine operations, and improving the efficiency of crime investigations. Along with the advantages, key challenges are identified: the protection of personal data, respect for basic human rights when applying AI models, transparency in decision-making by algorithmic systems, and non-discrimination in criminal proceedings. Special attention is given to issues of international coordination and legislative regulation, including the classification of high-risk AI systems in accordance with international regulatory models. The article contains an extensive review of national legislation, existing AI development concepts, and national standards aimed at forming the foundations of a systemic legal base to apply artificial intelligence in law enforcement in Kazakhstan that let compare domestic practice with advanced international approaches. In conclusion, the importance to develop an integrated model for managing the digital transformation of the law enforcement sector is substantiated.
