THE POSSIBILITY OF IDENTIFYING TRACES FORMED BY INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS OF THE WEAPON ON 4.5 MM CALIBER BULLETS FOR PNEUMATIC WEAPONS (A CASE FROM PRACTICE)
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Studying the reports of criminal offenses, we increasingly see the use of pneumatic weapons as a weapon of criminal encroachment. The identification of pneumatic weapons is one of the most difficult expert research. The small volume of the contact surface, the weak display of the inner surface of the barrel bore, the shape and material of pneumatic projectiles, all this negatively affects the ability of the expert to give a reasonable, categorical conclusion on the objects presented. Basically, such studies end with the conclusion that it is impossible to resolve the question posed to the expert on the merits. The lack of a standardized methodology and poor methodological elaboration of this issue in the forensic literature negatively affects the production of such examinations. In given article, the authors describe a special case of conducting such research, which led to a categorically positive conclusion and formed the basis of the indictment on the rough treatment of animals. A careful study of the traces of the barrel bore, the establishment of the features of the mechanism of trace formation and a thorough study of the details of the weapon allowed us to solve the questions raised. This conclusion was carried out on the basis of the forensic department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Vyborg district of St. Petersburg.
