Motivation is the most effective way to enhance the quality of the pedagogical process, which is expressed in continued readiness of cadets (students) to perceive the educational material and to improve on their own the knowledge gained. Perception and realization of the vocational necessity in the discipline being studied take place only at a sufficiently high motivational background. In our work we review forms and means to motivate cadets (students) of higher educational institutions of The Russian Internal Affairs Ministry to take practical classes in physical training. Having compared common motivation methods approved by experts in the field of education and psychology, we selected among them those that consider specifics of police officers training under the conditions of higher educational institutions of The Russian Internal Affairs Ministry. Based upon those methods we developed a motivation pattern to motivate cadets (students) to take classes in physical training.
