The article deals with the problems of interaction between operational search agency and people, it highlights the reasons of the negative attitude of the citizens to assistance to operational search agencies, such as negative coloring of the confidential work in the media, regulatory shortcomings in the implementation of social and legal protection to the persons rendering assistance, the problems in ensuring confidentiality (privacy) of assistance and others. The author believes that governmental task must be solved through social institutions - family, law, media, education, etc., they must form positive image of the persons providing confidential assistance, revise the legal acts regulating the interaction between operational search agency and people.
