In the article authors summarize the characteristics of bringing to administrative responsibility for violation of forestry regulations. Authors stress the importance of protective measures aimed at achieving the goal of rational and efficient use of forests due to environmental and economic importance of the forest resources. One way to protect forests is a legal liability for unfair users of forest resources. Administrative responsibility is the most common kind of legal responsibility in the field of forestry. Authors determined that the administrative responsibility for violation of the rules of forests use, their safety and protection, has a set of unique features, which are directly related both to the legal regulation of this institution (the forestry) and the possibilities to use of forest resources. In conclusion authors present their understanding of the administrative responsibility for violation of the rules of forests use, their safety and protection. It is a coercive measure, established by state and covered by sanction of legal norm, applicable to the person who has committed an administrative offense in the field of forestry.
