The article contemplates issues of the usage of technical means and devices used in the process of conducting search activities during criminal investigations commenced in relation to declared missing juvenile cases. The issues are contemplated on the basis of the data provided by the Chief Criminalistics Department with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Based on the data of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the years 2014-2015 there were 16 540 juveniles registered as declared missing in Russia, out of which 4 124 were preteens. On top of that the internal affairs agencies conducted searches of 21970 minors who had fled their homes, boarding schools, orphanages alongside those who had escaped from juvenile temporary detention centres, special care educational facilities and special vocational facilities. For the purpose of enhancing the outcomes of the search activities on locating the missing juveniles various technical means and devices are used: unmanned airborne devices, „GLONASS“ satellite navigation system, «OKO-2» and «LOZA-M» georadars and others.
