The article analyses the issue of the cost of expertise in criminal proceedings. At present, it does not have its legislative resolution in the CPC RF, is not discussed in the criminal procedure theory, but is quite relevant in the practice of law enforcement. For comparison, the Decrees of the French Council of State provide a very detailed regulation of the cost of expertise in criminal proceedings. Their content is part of the national CPC and has generally binding legal force for all subjects of criminal procedure relations. Such extensive regulation may be of interest to domestic law enforcers, although it is difficult to utilise such experience tactically. But strategically, in the preparation of the new CPC, this experience can be taken into account, provided that it is discussed in advance and widely with all stakeholders.
