In the article, the authors analyze the public opinion on the radicalization of religious consciousness in up-to-date Kazakhstan. The research is based on the results of the interviewees' questionnaires. The authors critically analyze the government policy in the sphere of preventing radicalization. The results of the questionnaire of the public opinion concerning its attitude towards the manifestation of terrorism and extremism are summarized. The authors pay attention to the inefficiency of the law enforcement activities in this sphere. The aim of the research is to characterize briefly the events taking place in Kazakhstan in January 2022; to identify the public attitude towards the process of radicalization of the society and effectiveness of counter-measures. The sociological, statistical and logical methods are applied; legal sources and public data are analyzed. Some peculiarities of manifestation of religious radicalism in Kazakhstan are formulated. Based on the study of judicial practice and criminal statistics, it is stated that extremism, terrorism and their religious manifestations have a material rather than ideological background in Kazakhstan, but at the same time, they can be used in political struggle.
