The article researches the acting criminal procedure legislation from the point of view of legal regulation of the criminal procedure interests being defended. As a result of the research the authors come to the conclusion that the existing system of private and public interests in criminal procedure does not fully reflect the interests of the state. The criminal procedure function stated in the Art. 6 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation is to be broadened to reflect the national interests of the state. Providing the legislative grounds of the authors' definition of such interests the paper suggests amending Art. 5 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation with the definition. In conclusion, the authors dwell on the importance of improving the criminal procedure policy of the Russian Federation from the point of view of complex legislative, doctrinal and law enforcement approaches reflecting the values, ideology, law enforcement experience, as well as the existing and promising ways of foreign-policy relations advancement for our state.
