The topical nature of the research is due to the need to effectively form the security system of participants in the criminal process; those who realize power functions, and individuals involved in criminal proceedings in various roles. The article analyzes the scientific literature and the provisions of the legislation of the Russian Federation in order to identify the shortcomings and determine the possibilities to improve the system of protection for subjects of the criminal process being in power. In the course of the research, it is noted that the state protection of judges and officials whose official duties involve investigating crimes committed by organized groups, trying the procedural issues arising during the investigation; is of particular importance not only for the subjects of the protection, but also for the society as a whole. The public goals to realize state protection measures for officials include ensuring to keep secrets of the investigation, independence and impartiality of judges, that is, ensuring the rule of law and law and order in the whole country. At the same time, the legislative regulation of the state protection for officials being in probable danger, while performing their duties, requires improving in terms of expanding the list of protection objects and the list of security measures.
