The article analyzes the major directions for implementation of the practical component of education through the courses of the Information Technologies and Mathematics Department. It describes the goals and objectives of the program for setting up an integrated information and telecommunication system for internal affairs agencies, as well as the main functions and structure of the automated integrated databanks (IDB). The author offers to acquire the skills of working with the IDB on the basis of simulating the functional characteristic and structure of databanks’ documents.
