A historical survey of different stages of normative regulation of the inquiry agencies within the system of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation is represented in the article. The basic orders of the Mini-stry of Interior of Russia composing the departmental normative base, regulating the changes in the structure of the inquiry agencies, their organization and procedural activities at the current stage of the russian history are analyzed.
