In the article the matter and the content of the notion of image are defined as well as its meaning for forming public prestige and competitiveness of the law enforcement officer’s profession in a state. The main structural elements of the law enforcement officers’ image and principles of its forming are reflected in the article. The role of personal and professional skills, tact and behavior culture in their professional development is determined. The main directions fostering this development are pointed out.
