In the article the author considers the history of the origin of public views concerning the problems of family violence in Russia in the beginning of the 20 th century. The Russian legislation in the field of family relationship between a wife and a husband is commented. The traditions typical for Russian families and stated in the laws of the mentioned period of time are analyzed.
