The article contains personal data about the Cossack villages’ and farm yards’ chieftains of the Ust-Medveditsky district of the Don Cossack Army’s Region from 1900 to 1905. It allows to research one of the main features of the Cossack self-government that is the electivity of officials of the executive power and their accountability to people. The presence of private Cossacks along with grand individuals being elected for several years among the chieftains is the evidence of the degree of people’s confidence and the significance of the current position.
