The article is devoted to the problem of content and meaning of the municipal power subjects’ competence in Russia. From the legal point of view the existing structures of the competence are far from perfect. This fact hampers its implementation. In the article the author gives the definition to such a notion as the competence of municipal power subjects, analyzes its structural elements, estimates the quality of regulatory legal acts related to local governmental bodies’ powers, and determines ways of further improvement of legislation in this sphere. The article is addressed to everyone who is interested in the problem of the public power bodies’ competence.
