The article is devoted to the analysis of early criminal-law prescriptions that existed in Ancient Russia and were contained in numerous sources which appeared to be the basis for further systematization and codification of criminal law. The author makes an attempt to figure out the regularities of development of the criminal-law idea of Ancient Russia by means of forming and building criminal-law institutes.
