In the development process of market relations and on the background of continuing to exist for a long time economic, social-political tensions in Russia fighting crime is one of the most acute problems. In this article the peculiarities of appearance and development of extremism in Russia at the present stage, the factors causing the high level of latency of crimes of an extremist orientation, defined and studied kinds of manifestations of extremism, studied in detail the identity of the representatives of youth extremism, defined motivation of the perpetrators of crimes of an extremist orientation, social and economic reasons, as one of the reasons of growth of extremism in the States entering the way of reform.
