The article analyzes crime situation in the Volgograd region and results of police work on providing public order and safety according to the data of 2013 and sociological research on public opinion. The author emphasizes the importance of studying public opinion on criminogenic situation and analyzing citizens’ evaluation of interior bodies’ activity. The article presents the data of sociological research on interior bodies’ activity conducted by a group of officers of the Volgograd Academy of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. The outcomes of the research confirm the opinion of field officers of the Volgograd police that some of the reasons for increased number of citizens applying to police were activities conducted within reforms of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. In addition research outcomes showed existence of certain tension in relations between community and police. Currently operating interior bodies don’t coincide with the image of guardian of order created in the minds of community members.
