In article the essence and the content of corruption from a position of broad and narrow approaches are considered. Broad approach to concept consists in reference to corruption of the phenomenon which is expressed in use by the subject of the legal status for achievement of personal interests. The authors adhering to narrow approach to treatment fairly criticize supporters of broad approach that in this case at a corruption operatsionalization, that is at establishment of communication of the theory and practice, all structures of administrative crimes fall under corruption actually. Narrow approach to concept consists in reference to corruption of acts on the basis of etymological criterion: corruption represents bribery. Proceeding from it, broad approach to concept is completely denied as, based on the mechanism of commission of a corruption crime, it is possible to allocate this structure from category of malfeasances. On the basis of scientific search and taking into account opinion of modern Russian and foreign scientists the author comes to a conclusion that corruption - this social and legal phenomenon which is characterized by activity of the natural person with use of the official capacity contrary to legitimate interests of society and state for obtaining benefits and advantages of material and non-material character or for granting those to the third parties.
