While studying aspects of crime detection formation and undisclosed search activities realization through the prism of social relationships of the Early Russian state, the author studied the record of national law ¾ Russkaia Pravda. The slightly illogical structure of Russkaia Pravda has no partition into criminal or civil proceedings meanwhile it contains some norms that could be named progenitors of modern norms of different branches of national law. The historical period under revision can be characterized by the customary law domination where the legal proceedings had an adversarial nature. Therefore we have pointed out the absence of any specialized services that could realize a kind of law enforcement activities in general or investigation and search activities in particular. Taking into account the adversarial nature of legal proceedings, the historical legal act committed the local community as well as the prosecutor himself to carry out investigation activities, if the crime had been committed within its territory. The author specifies the rudiments of undisclosed proceedings of that period, enumerates the sources of evidence and names the conditions of their admissibility.
