The article presents the main directions of development of legislation in the field of protection of children, family in the Soviet Union in the early years of the Great Patriotic War. Considered the legal basis of the evacuation of children from areas of fighting, child care unit at the rear, the organization of children's homes. Particular attention is paid to the legal regulation of labor relations mother help families of military personnel, support to needy families. We study some of the legal acts adopted in the initial stage of the war on the prevention of child abandonment, assisting children left without parental care. The article also discussed the regulatory framework to protect children during the Great Patriotic War in the Stalingrad region.
