The article includes the analysis of the concept „abuse of minors“ and deals with issues of the differentiation and combination of crimes stipulated by Article 156 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with the related crime components. The author considers the application of qualification „abuse of minors“, defines typical mistakes made during the application of the criminal legislation in the investigative and judicial practice in cases of the considered category on the basis of the performed analysis of the current criminal and family legislation of the Russian Federation. The author pays special attention to the issue of competition of the criminal legal rules which stipulate for liability for different abuses in relation to minors. The proposals for changes in the current criminal legislation of the Russian Federation for the purpose of better protection of rights and interests of minors are formed in the concluding part of the article. The author proposes to introduce amendments in Article 156 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation „Non-Fulfillment of Minor Upbringing Obligations“ by adding part 2 „Abuse of Minors“.
