In this article the author analyzes a number of problems arising in the course of implementing compulsory measures of educational influence, through the prism of the principles of criminal law. As a result of the analysis of the current criminal legislation, the decisions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, as well as the study of the practice of applying forced measures by the courts, the contradictions between the legal regulation of these measures and the provisions of such branch principles of criminal law as the differentiation of the criminal legal effect, the inevitability of the criminal- legal impact and individualization of criminal law impact. In the author's opinion, the established contradictions are one of the main causes that have a negative impact on the effectiveness of the use of compulsory educational measures, and therefore require mandatory elimination. In order to solve the indicated problems, the author proposed and justified the possible ways of eliminating the revealed contradictions, aimed at bringing the legal regulation of compulsory measures of educational influence in accordance with the provisions of the principles of criminal law.
