The article substantiates the need for a clear specification of the problem of ideological foundations of modern criminal proceedings. Criminal procedure science still reacts to this problem only by individual scientific works. The results of these studies can be useful in the formation of a scientific understanding of the ideological foundations of criminal proceedings. Of course, one can argue that the theme of ideology is entirely accumulated by the theme of principles. However, the topic of principles does not exhaust the topic of ideological foundations. Moreover, it is almost entirely absorbed in this topic and in the sense of scientific rigor should derive from it its key concepts. No wonder in the criminal procedure science there is no clear explanation of the ideological essence of the concept of principles. Many scientists define the principle as an idea, but deeper and further this statement does not go. Based on this, the author shows the circumstances that prevent legal science to comprehend the importance of understanding the breadth and diversity of this problem.
