The given article deals with a comparative analysis of the scientific works by the academicians of the Volgograd Academy of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia that are devoted to the theoretical and legal issues related to integrating detective activity into criminal proceedings. The study of works by M. S. Kolosovich proves her having made a comprehensive comparative analysis related to the problem of integrating non-publicity investigation methods into criminal proceedings. Her conclusions make prospects for reforming the Russian legislation. The elements of non-publicity are already present in the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, whereas two main models of integration characterize the foreign experience: direct duplication / transferring the norms on detective measures from the detective law into the criminal procedural law; as well as the establishment of a new institution, that is, institution of non-publicity investigative actions. The scientific works by M. A. Shmatov deal with a comprehensive study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of detective activity as an independent legal science interconnected with criminal procedure and other criminal-legal sciences. The author determined the place of theory of detective activity in the system of criminal and legal sciences, the historical stages of its formation and the legal foundations. The closest connection is revealed with the criminal process, while using the results of detective activities in proving. Following the vector of research development set by M. S. Kolosovich and M. A. Shmatov, the author of the article justifies the emergence of a complex branch of "international cooperation in criminal proceedings".
