The article examines some topical problems of the theory and practice of judicial railway transport examinations for the study of trams. The subject and objects of the examination under consideration are indicated, among which the author singled out: the scene of the incident, the rolling stock of the tram, the infrastructure of light rail transport, documents, as well as other objects that are important for establishing the circumstances of the traffic accident. Based on the studied investigative and expert practice, expert tasks are identified that are solved in the production of forensic railway transport examinations for the study of trams: diagnostic situational, technical, regulatory-technical, reconstruction, prognostic. A conclusion was formulated that for the study of trams it is advisable to involve employees of tram parks and services with work experience in their specialty of three years or more; if necessary or absent – representatives of tram car manufacturers, as well as their key components, employees of research institutes and (or) teachers of technical universities.
