The largest number of damages to clothing, along with damage to human body parts, is caused by objects of piercing and cutting action (mainly knives), which is due to their availability and prevalence. At the same time, they can be both household items and relate to edged weapons, the constructive variety of which is quite large. The main problem faced by an expert based on the results of a study of stab wounds to clothing is the lack of information about the signs of the blade displayed in the damage. Also, depending on the type of clothing material and the position of the implement, the morphology of the damage may vary, which makes it much more difficult to differentiate the design of the piercing object. As a result of the study of damage caused by blade objects of piercing and cutting action on garments made of various materials, patterns of damage formation on various types of fabrics and knitwear, leather and imitation leather, non-woven and film materials have been established. The possibilities of detecting such features of bladed weapons in damage as the shape of the blade, the shape of the cross-section of the butt, the shape of the bevel of the butt, the presence and properties of sharpening the bevel of the butt, the number of blades on the blade and the degree of their sharpening, the angle of convergence of the tip. The results of the study can be used by practitioners of the expert departments of the internal affairs bodies when conducting a study of stab wounds to clothing.
