The article is devoted to the problems that arise during research on the facts of explosions of fuel-air mixtures formed when fine dusts of combustible substances are mixed with air (airweights). Despite the fact that such facts are relatively rare in forensic practice, such explosions are most often the cause of death and lead to significant material damage. When investigating the facts of such explosions, an expert has to decide on the possibility of ignition or explosion of a dust-air mixture under certain conditions. Since this information cannot always be obtained from reference books, in such cases it is necessary to conduct a number of experiments determining the explosive and fire-hazardous properties of this air suspension. Using a specific example from expert practice, the authors show the possibility of establishing the main characteristic of fire and explosion hazard air suspension - the lower concentration limit of ignition. As a result of a comprehensive study, it was found that the dust under study belongs to the class of explosive and flammable, and the ignition source was static electricity sparks.
