The article suggests a way to simplify the production of measurements using the mathematical method in forensic portrait examination. The author schematically demonstrates the principle of calculating the values of the angles of rotation and tilt / deviation of the human head in a photographic image, which differ from the tabular values given in the textbook "Criminalistic identification of a person by different-angle photographic portraits". Based on these data, a mathematical justification for the derivation of formulas aimed at optimizing the relevant calculations is provided. A specific example illustrates the production of calculations of the desired values of the deviation of the head position in a photograph using formulas derived from the ratios resulting from the first sign of similarity of triangles. The proposed approach will reduce the time spent by an expert on calculating the values of the angles of rotation and tilt / deviation of the head of a person imprinted on the objects of forensic portrait examination under consideration, as well as reduce the number of possible computational errors, since the proposed method does not require the use of proportional calculations, but implies substituting integer values into a unified formula.
