In the context of the growth of crimes encroaching on religious relations, the role of judicial religious studies expertise as a type of evidence is being actualized. When investigating criminal cases related to religious extremism and (or) terrorism, modern judicial proceedings are conducted based on an objective, complete and comprehensive study conducted by an expert, as well as on a qualitative assessment of the conclusions, the results of which play an important role in the administration of justice. During the production of forensic examination, great importance is attached to its compliance with the criteria of scientific validity and validation of the applied methodological base. In this regard, special attention should be paid to the definition of modern problems that arise at the stages of appointment and production of judicial religious studies examinations. The result of the work was the identification of the specifics of the investigation of crimes committed on the grounds of religious hatred or enmity, the importance of using judicial religious studies expertise as evidence in court, as well as the analysis of problems of this kind (type) of expertise.
