The article examines the possibility of establishing the executor of a signature, in relation to which the question of its authenticity (inauthenticity) was not resolved due to the lack of samples of the signature handwriting of the person on whose behalf the signature appears. The paper describes groups of features that are displayed in different types of authentic and inauthentic signatures, indicates the reasons for their appearance, analyzes the related problems of providing comparable comparative material, including new approaches to the preparation of special experimental samples, examines expert situations that allow for a one-stage solution to the identification problem, and the circumstances in which, without resolving the issue of the signature's inauthenticity, establishing its executor becomes ineffective and can lead to an expert error.
