In the article the author considers types of the context distinguished by different grounds (narrow or broad, superficial or profound, situational or cultural) and shows the principal distinction between the vertical context and the background knowledge. Along with this, elements of the vertical context structure are considered as their translation is especially difficult while translating foreign language texts.
