In the article a text is considered as the main means of teaching a language of speciality to foreign students. Taking account of cognitive linguistics achievements, a concept is accepted as a unit of information taking out of the text. In regard to speciality-related texts, the author gives grounds for the necessity of using the notion of “text concept” correlating with new knowledge within the framework of a particular specialty. Besides, the author offers ways to optimize the students’ work on the formation of this concept.
