At the present time, the practice of using and protecting lands occupied by recreation areas requires clarification of their legal status. It is regulated by civil and land law standards. These standards often contradict one another. Along with this, the land legislation clearly regulates peculiarities of the legal status of recreational lands that belong to lands of specially protected areas as well as recreation territorial zones that mostly belong to lands of residential areas. In modern Russian law there is a category of «recreational entity» the status of which is quite superficially determined by the federal legislation. Such entities exist in all the land categories, except for reserve lands. However, it causes obvious legal consequences mainly regarding lands of residential areas and recreational lands. The author proves the existence of a new legal framework of «objects for recreational purposes» that are typical for absolutely all the land categories, except for reserve lands. However, their legal regulation and special legal status don’t always have a clear statement in law. The author offers to remove this gap in law and continue doctrinal research of this interdisciplinary legal framework.
