The article substantiates the personal and social significance of the values of responsibility. It is regarded as a cross-cutting category. In the philosophy of «responsibility» is interpreted through the category of «freedom», «sense», «morals», «conscience» Psychologists refer to it as control over the activity of the subject from the point of view of execution of the accepted rules and norms. In sociological aspect of «responsibility» is interpreted as a form of public regulation of interactions between actors of society. Legal responsibility is the duty of the subject of the offence to endure adverse effects in the scope stipulated by law, that is, always involves an illegal act, depending on which classified the types of liability. Responsibility in pedagogical literature is considered as psychological and moral qualities of the personality, the principle of the relationship between people, intrapersonal relationship, characterized by dialogue and conscientiousness. It allows treating responsibility as a moral regulator of allowing the person to carry out public approve of the choice, what is significant in organization of the educational process in school and University in the aspect of goal setting.
