The article is devoted to the development of information competence in a modern high school. The definition of this notion is represented in the article. The authors consider information competence in two ways: in terms of the use of computer technology and as a process of perception of information. The article describes the main features of information competence. Students of high school with an information competence should freely navigate in the information space, work successfully with communication technologies, use interactive technology in their professional activities. The requirements for the organization of educational process in higher education in order to achieve this goal are represented. The article deals with the forms, methods and tools that reflect the content of the training of future specialists. The authors focus attention on that the development of information competence at the stage of studying at the university due to the modern reality, but in addition to the requirements for modern professional identity, it is necessary to take into account each university place and possibilities of modern information technologies in the educational process, which requires the solution of certain organizational, management and research tasks.
