Traditionally, the police of the Federal Republic of Germany hold leading positions in law enforcement not only within the country, but also abroad. Exceptional professionalism and unprecedentedly high level of authority among the population are distinctive features of a German police officer. A study conducted by independent scientists showed that 85 % of the population trusts the police. These circumstances incentivised the authors to study training of German police officers using the example of State Bureau for Training, Professional Development and Personnel of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Based on the research conducted by the authors and the results of their personal familiarization with the work of the Federal Republic of Germany police, the article describes admission to educational institutions, specifics of applying distant learning technology, training equipment facilities, interaction of the police educational institution with local internal affairs authorities, as well as using automatic systems containing confidential information in the course of training.
