Up-to-date society realities, instability of economics and political situation in the country induce the police officer’s personality and activity to possess high qualities which in turn cause the source of steady stressful situation. As a result there are different wrongdoings committed by the police officers, the number of such wrongdoings decreases insignificantly. The article deals with the social factors accompanying the police officers’ activity, the modern requirements imposed to the police officer and the role of hazardous situations in the police officer’s formation. The authors bring the detailed classification of the general-social and professional hazards the police officers’ activity; also point out the system of main personal qualities of the police officer reducing mentioned-above hazards. As the key solution of this issue the authors propose the police officers’ training system improvement, educational principles reassessment of the higher educational establishments of the Internal Affairs Ministry of the Russian Federation, as well as application of the competence approach which provides not only higher knowledge level but also comprehensive personal development, formation of professional, moral and ethnical qualities.
