The article is devoted to the topical issues to regulate the institution of involvement in crime in the Russian legislation. The modifications introduced in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation by Federal Law No. 375-FZ (dated July 6, 2016) "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation related to the establishment of additional measures to counter terrorism and ensure public safety" are analyzed. The institution of involvement in crime actually restored one of its lost components, that is failure to report a crime, while the Criminal Code of 1996 came into force. The structure of the institution of involvement in crime is examined. The absence of a uniform interpretation of the issues under consideration in the doctrine of criminal law is noted. In the course of analysis of the acting criminal legislation of Russia and a number of normative acts that have lost their force, as well as law enforcement practice, the author sorts out a number of existing problems. They are proposed to be solved by amending both the General and the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
