DIGITAL TRACES AS OBJECTS OF FORENSIC EXAMINATION
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The article examines the objects of forensic examination presented in digital form. The necessity of classifying such objects based on the method of reflection, the method of introduction into the computer environment, the form of presentation, and internal content is established. The peculiarity of existence in digital form is noted, which applies not only to objects of computer-technical expertise but also to objects of other expertises (portrait, phonoscopic, video-technical, traceological, and others). An opinion is expressed on the need to mandatory consider a digital object as a system comprising an information object, the form of information storage on a medium, and the storage medium itself. This approach allows for distinguishing between objects submitted for expert examination and the direct objects of research. It is noted that for solving tasks related to establishing the facts of digital object simulation, their classification according to the method of creation and recording into the computer environment is of paramount importance. Objects created both directly by a user and without their direct involvement (a product of using a neural network, artificial intelligence) are identified.
