In the expert practice of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, short notes written in Vietnamese Latin script are considered a distinct object of forensic handwriting examination. Such forensic handwriting examinations are often appointed in the investigation of criminal cases related to manifestations of extremism and vandalism, gambling in the form of lottery betting, as well as corruption and economic crimes. The limited content of these notes, expressed through a small volume of graphic written symbols, combined with the lack of a methodology for their analysis, creates certain challenges in addressing expert tasks during their examination. Overcoming these challenges requires comprehensive scientific development of the theoretical, methodological, and organizational-tactical foundations of forensic handwriting examination of short notes written in Vietnamese Latin script. This article aims to contribute to the formation of the theoretical basis of this area, particularly its emergence, current state, and development trends.
