The author suggests analyzing the process of civic-mindedness formation within the framework of the concept of value-oriented humanitarian education. Values are considered to be the regulator of social relations in the moral and spiritual sphere of a human being. The key role here belongs to the development of ideas of civic duty and civil responsibility. Civic-mindedness is defined as a value attitude of an individual toward the civil society. The author distinguishes substantive practical and cognitive prognostic functions of civic-mindedness.
