The precedence of the professional self-development is shown in the article. Scientific-methodical basis of the authorial elective course «Professional self-development of the higher educational establishment teacher» is posed in the paper. The didactic conditions of the professional self-development which help to overcome the difficulties in self-development are discussed. The main idea of the course is revealed - the priority self-development of teacher. Didactic conditions actualizing while the educational process: pedagogical collaboration of students with each other, teachers, scientific literature; enhancement of the reflective, creative methods using in work with the students; actualization of the motives of professional activity and self-fulfillment of the postgraduate students. Developing opportunities of the course in professional development of the students are demonstrated. The methodical features of work with students aimed at maturity of the components of student professional self-development. The author describes the specificity of postgraduate students’ individual work during the elective course.
