In the given article the authors study an important and currently relevant issue of organizing educational work for the younger generation of interior bodies’ personnel. Significant attention is paid to the analysis of cadets’ (students’) personality characteristics and organization of their spare time. In the authors’ opinion the instructor supervising a group of cadets should distinguish the following directions of educational work as fundamental: to exert the main influence on formation of personality and professional qualities of cadets (students) during the academic process while developing their professional abilities; and to exert additional influence during extracurricular activities, organized by the departments scientific research societies, problem groups, individual consultations with professors. The authors view educational work as part of academic process which can’t be properly organized without conducting educational activities. To characterize problematic aspects the authors use empirical experience gained through teaching and distinguish the main issues of organizing educational process.
